New Mexico Watercolor Society has invited me to speak at the Albuquerque Art Museum tonight at 7:20. I think it’s 5 bucks for non-members of NMWS. I’m discussing the Artistic choices I have made to move my Chirp series along and keep it fresh.

Show At Bright Rain Gallery December 2010

I’m working on a small group of works for the December slot at Bright Rain Gallery. www.brightraingallery.com I will have some new portraits and birds for sure.
I also might show some of the fantasy works if i don’t sell them all at the upcoming Illuxcon.
My fantasy works are birthed out of my lifelong passion for the genre. In high school I was captivated by the works of Yoshitaka Amano starting with the final fantasy character and world design. Later when I was a quasi-aimless adult his vision compelled me to attend college for art. Now after absorbing the resources of school I’m ready to start exploring the genre again. ….
My goal is to start very restrained, I’m trying to see where I would like to take the genre and observing where my art fits it as it is. In large, Fantasy art attracts artists who are very into technique, anatomy and detail oriented realism…I used to be a musician and I keep thinking of how Metal is very similar in the way that it demanded classical technique and “old master” knowledge. So truly, I’m prepared to learn alot because of the demands of the group dynamic to create a new reality. However, my goal in these works is not to create another reality that looks like this physical world. My work has always pointed to the place where inner reality meets the physical one.

I personally cant think of anything cooler than women in armor… but that’s probably just me. Will be displaying these works at the upcoming convention in November2010 Illuxcon 3.
